ASEAN Member Countries Agree to Sustain ASEAN-Wildlife Enforcement Network

ASEAN-WEN logoASEAN ministers at CoP16Ministers, senior officers and focal points from the 10 ASEAN member states met in Bangkok on March 3 and 4, alongside the 16th CITES Conference of the Parties to review the progress of ASEAN cooperation on CITES and ASEAN-WEN and to provide their interventions and views on its future. The ministers and delegates highlighted national initiatives to strengthen wildlife law enforcement and expressed support in strengthening and sustaining the network. On March 4th, officers welcomed the US Ambassador to Thailand, as well as international observers. A video produced on ASEAN-WEN and ASEAN regional cooperation on CITES was shown to express the success and importance of ASEAN-WEN as part of ASEAN’s overall cooperation and efforts to ASEAN community building in the future.
